It has a population of around 260,000 and both the main road and rail links pass through the area command which has responsibility for Newcastle International Airport, Newcastle United Football Club, Newcastle Falcons rugby ground and Newcastle Racecourse.
This area includes the vibrant city centre of Newcastle with its vast retail, commercial, entertainment and leisure facilities.
