Anti-social behaviour at Fawdon Park and the surrounding streets.

We did...

  • High visibility patrols and partnership work in conjunction with the local authority has taken place.

  • This includes targeting known offenders and spot checks on licensed premises.

  • Acceptable Behaviour Agreements (ABAs) and tenancy enforcement action has been carried out against a number of youths found committing disorder.

  • This has led to a reduction in the number of calls from residents being received by police.

Over the summer holiday period a number of residents contacted us about problems with young people banging on doors and throwing stones, etc at houses on the 165 estate in Blakelaw.

We did...

  • Such matters are taken very seriously by the Police and our partners including the City Council and Your Homes Newcastle.

  • Uniformed patrols were increased by Police Officers, Community Support Officers and Street Wardens in the identified locations.

  • Through talking to local residents, information was obtained to identify those involved.

  • The offenders and their parents were invited to meet with neighbourhood officers and YHN staff. They were warned regarding their conduct and of the risk to their tenancies. In some cases parents of offenders were removed from the eligibility list for new housing on the estate.

  • There has already been a reduction in the number of incidents on the estate. This will continue to be monitored to ensure it continues.
