Appeal to trace burglary witness

Police investigating a burglary in Newcastle are asking for a specific witness to come forward.

It happened between 8.30am and 5.30pm on Wednesday, May 2, when burglars broke into a house in Fairfield Road and stole a number of items before making off.

Amongst the items taken was a silver and black Tag Heuer Formula One watch - with a silver and black face, a black Canon camera, a silver Sony Vaio laptop, a black Nike holdall and a number of personal documents.

A man carrying a bag was seen walking in the area at the time of the burglary and police believe he may have information which will help the investigation. He was wearing a black waist length coat and blue jeans at the time, as well as a large rucksack.

PC Suzanne Richley, who is investigating, said: "We'd like to speak to this man as he may have witnessed activity in the area which can help the investigation. I'd urge him to come forward as soon as possible."

Police have a CCTV image of the man and it will be considered for release to the public in future in an effort to trace him.
