Northumbria Police aims to meet our commitment to you.
The following Neighbourhood priorities relate to your area:
1. May 2012: Youth anti-social behaviour at Denton Dene North and Wansford Avenue.
"What you told us"
Local residents have reported youth anti-social behaviour from Denton Dene North to Wansford Avenue, sometimes involving up to 40 youths. Some are drunk having consumed alcohol.
"What we are doing about it"
Community Support Officers tasked to patrol the area and confiscate alcohol from anyone underage or involved in anti-social behaviour.
Underage youths under the influence of alcohol will be returned home, and parents spoken to.
Local off-licences will be visited regularly to ensure compliance with the law relating to sale of alcohol.
Alcohol confiscations will be made and direction to leave notices issued where appropriate (banning the individual from the area for up to 48 hours).
Section 59 seizure notices will be issued for motorbike disorder (bike seized and potentially crushed).
Acceptable Behaviour Agreements (regulating the conduct of individuals) will be used.
A Stand Alone Problem Solving (SAPS) is being established which involves other partners to address the root causes of these issues.
"Keeping you informed"
The above tactics have been successful previously in significantly reducing anti-social behaviour.
Residents will be kept informed of successes through the sector website, local media, leaflet drops, patrolling officers and community messaging.

Youths will be dispersed / returned home and positive action taken over any offences wherever possible.

Acceptable Behaviour Agreements, which restrict behaviour, will be used for repeat offenders who are involved in anti-social behaviour.
Tenancy enforcement will be progressed if anyone involved lives in a council property.

"Keeping you informed"
Updates will be put on the sector web page outlining successes / positive action taken against individuals.
Residents will be kept informed at local meetings and through leaflet drops of the activity undertaken and by patrolling officers.
3. May 2012: Speeding vehicles in Wingrove Road North, Queensway and surrounding streets
"What you told us"
Local residents have reported vehicles travelling at excessive speeds in the area of Wingrove Road North, Queensway and the surrounding streets.
"What we are doing about it"
We have increased the number and frequency of mobile patrols and are using a mobile speed awareness matrix board in the area. We are also working with Newcastle City Council Highways Department to identify the key times so resources can be directed appropriately.
A meeting has been held between partners to jointly tackle the speeding issue. Membership of this meeting is being widened to include other partners who can positively contribute to the speeding issue.
"Keeping you informed"
Police are continuing to monitor this situation and have already stopped and spoken to a number of motorists to educate them about travelling at excessive speeds.
A dedicated police operation is proposed in the near future to educate motorists, followed by a period of enforcement.
