Youth trip visit police helicopter

[View Full Size]Young people from North Tyneside have made a special visit to the police helicopter in Ponteland.
Members from the Avenue Youth Club on Avon Avenue in Meadowell made the trip after talking to PC Iain Grant from the North Shields Neighbourhood Policing Team.
PC Grant is a regular visitor to the club which also houses a base for neighbourhood officers. He says: "The club members aged 11 - to 18, often ask me about my role as a neighbourhood beat manager and the police work carried out across the force.
"They were particularly interested in the police helicopter which they see overhead from time to time - and were keen to see it up close.
"I was pleased to help them out and arrange a visit to the North East Air Support Unit for the youngsters to get to look around and ask the staff about the equipment they use. They found the visit very interesting and had a great time."
