RNLI hut targeted by thieves

Police are appealing for information after a burglary to an RNLI hut in Whitley Bay.
Between 6:05pm Monday, July 23, and 9:45am Tuesday, July 24, thieves broke into a beach rescue hut on the Promenade.
They stole radio equipment and a charity box before making off.
Detective Inspector Neil Brotherton said: "We have seen a number of these thefts where RNLI buildings have been targeted and as a result we have stepped up patrols at the sites.
"We have been working with the local council and the RNLI and helping them to improve security at their buildings and all valuables from these buildings are being removed overnight."
