Neighbourhood priorities

Northumbria Police aims to meet our commitment to you.

The following Neighbourhood priorities relate to your area:

1. May 2012: Theft from Motor Vehicles

"What you told us"

There have been reports of thefts from cars in the Killingworth and Wideopen areas in North Tyneside.

"What we're doing about it"

Additional uniform patrols have been allocated to the area to prevent offences, provide reassurance and offer crime prevention advice.

Police are working closely with partner agencies and intelligence is being gathered to target offenders using specialist resources.

The public are asked to continue providing police with information on any suspicious activity.

"Keeping you informed"

Community Support Officers are regularly in the area updating residents and providing reassurance to the community.

We have also sent out information leaflets to residents.


2. May 2012: Burglary at industrial units and sheds in the North West area of North Tyneside.

"What you told us"

There have been reports of burglaries at industrial units in the north west area of North Tyneside.

"What we are doing about it"

All Neighbourhood Beat Managers, Community Support Officers and 24/7 patrols have been made aware.

Additional uniform police patrols will take place in the area to prevent offences, provide reassurance and offer crime prevention advice.

Officers in plain clothes will carry out foot and cycle patrols to arrest offenders and detect any offences.

Officers are using virtual watch schemes to update our communities.  This provides us with an immediate way of communicating and updating businesses in the area.


3. May 2012: Anti-social behaviour and criminal damage in Longbenton

"What you told us"

There have been reports of anti-social behaviour in Longbenton, specifically around Greyfriars Lane, Consort Place, Stoneleigh Avenue and surrounding streets.

"What we are doing about it"

All Neighbourhood Beat Managers and Community Support Officers have been made aware.

Additional uniform police patrols have been allocated to prevent offences and provide reassurance.

Officers in plain clothes will patrol on foot and cycles to arrest offenders and detect offences.

Stop and search powers will be used robustly to deal effectively with those suspected of committing or about to commit offences.

Police are working closely with partner agencies and intelligence is being gathered in order to target offenders.

"Keeping you informed"

We have held public meetings in the area and met with the local community. We are working closely with our partners and holding drop in surgeries at The Oxford Centre.
