Neighbourhood priorities

Northumbria Police aims to meet our commitment to you.

The following Neighbourhood priorities relate to your area:

1. Prevention and detection of crime and anti social behaviour on Avon Avenue.

All Neighbourhood Beat Managers and Community Support Officers have been made aware.

In response to this:

  • All Police Officers and Community Support Officers working in the area are focused on high profile policing.



  • We have targeted the area with additional patrols by Police and Community Support Officers  and Community Wardens.

  • We are utilising the CCTV system in the area.

  • We are working closely with Safer Estates to combat anti social behaviour


2. Prevention and detection of burglary and burglary of other dwellings in North Shields Town Centre.

All Neighbourhood Beat Managers and Community Support Officers have been made aware.

In response to this:

  • All Police Officers and CSOs working in the area are focused on reducing crime.

  • We have targeted the area with additional patrols by Police and Community Support Officers and Community Wardens.

  • We are utlising the CCTV system which covers this area.


3. Prevention and detection of retail crime across the sector, particularly at the shopping outlets.

All Neighbourhood Beat Managers and Community Support Officers have been made aware.

In response to this:

  • All Police Officers and Community Support Officers working in the area are focused on reducing crime. 

  • We have targeted the area with additional patrols by Police and Community Support Officers.   

  • Additional CCTV coverage to the area.

  • We are working closely with the retail outlets to target known offenders.
