Neighbourhood priorities

Northumbria Police aims to meet our commitment to you.

The following Neighbourhood priorities relate to your area:

1. May 2013: Prevention and detection of youth anti-social behaviour on the Brig Estate

“What you told us”

There has been a slight increase in reports of youth anti-social behaviour on the Brig Estate, especially around Blandford Road.

“What we are doing about it”

Additional uniformed police patrols are being carried out to prevent further offences and provide reassurance to the public.

Officers are carrying out foot and bike patrols to catch offenders.

Stop and search powers will be robustly used to deal with anyone suspected of committing an offence.

We are working with the Safer Estates team to combat anti-social behaviour.

2. May 2013: Prevention and detection of burglaries in the West Chirton and Billy Mill areas.

“What you told us”

There has been an increase in the number of reports of burglaries including break-ins of sheds, garages and outhouses in the West Chirton and Billy Mill areas.

“What we are doing about it”

Additional uniformed police patrols are being carried out to prevent further offences and provide reassurance to the public.

Officers in plain clothes are carrying out foot patrols.

Additional bike patrols are being carried out in the area.

Stop and search powers will be robustly used to deal with anyone suspected of committing an offence.

“Keeping you informed”

A number of search warrants have been executed and arrests have been made.

Officers have been involved in delivering crime prevention leaflets and giving advice to householders.

We aim to work with the local community and would welcome any feedback.

3. May 2013: Prevention and detection of violent crime offences across the North Shields sector.

“What you told us” 

There have been a number of reports of violent crime offences across the North Shields sector.

“What we are doing about it”

Additional uniformed police patrols are being carried out to prevent crime and to identify and arrest offenders.

Additional bicycle patrols have been carried out in the area.

Stop and search powers will be robustly used to deal with anyone suspected of committing an offence.
