"Reduce burglaries to homes in the Wallsend town centre area"
We Did
In response to these crimes, the area was made a policing priority. This meant that officers were directed to patrol this area. Extra resources were put in the area including operational support resources. Neighbourhood officers changed their shift patterns to work at key times, often in plain clothes to target potential suspects and deter further offences.
Police officers visited and worked closely with local second hand shops to stop offenders trying to dispose of stolen property in this manner.
Crime prevention advice has been given to help residents keep their property safe.
In December, eight people were arrested on suspicion of burglary in the Wallsend area as a result of this work.

"Reduce violent crime around the festive period to ensure Wallsend is a safe place to live, work and socialise in."
We Did
A specific operation was set up dedicated to combat violent crime in the town centre. Extra resources were utilised to ensure that police officers were highly visible in the right places at the right time based on analysis of times and locations of violent crime.
By working with our partners in North Tyneside Council, extra CCTV was set up to monitor areas of the town centre with less coverage, in order to provide extra reassurance and safety to the public.
Licensees were reminded of their responsibilities through the Pubwatch Scheme, and intensive licensing visits were carried out by the Neighbourhood Policing Teams to ensure that licensed premises in the area were being run responsibly.
Officers used preventative measures including issuing directions to leave the area to a number of people who were acting in an anti-social manner as a result of drinking alcohol. This prevented low level disorder escalating into something more serious.
As a result, violent crime was almost 10% lower than the same period last year. Assaults where injury was caused were 18% lower than the same period last year.
This resulted in a safe and happy festive period for the vast majority of residents and visitors in Wallsend.
