Crime Statistics Commentary

There has been a reduction in crime in the Alnwick Sector of 11% in the reporting period.

There have been no reports of house burglaries with the community being reminded of the importance of security - securing both doors and windows - during the Spring and Summer months.

There have been reports of burglaries to garden sheds and again people are reminded of the importance of good quality locks to secure their property. Further crime prevention advice is available through the neighbourhood policing team.

There have been a number of thefts from farms including a theft of a quad bike from Rothbury and a motor vehicle in the same area. Police are working closely with the farming community to alert them to crime prevention advice and to report any suspicious vehicles seen in their local areas.

Although the yearly figures for youth related anti-social behaviour are down the recent good weather has brought an increase in the Amble area and the market place in Alnwick.  The neighbourhood policing teams are focusing on these areas to take positive action where appropriate.
