Am I eligible to apply?

Age

Neighbourhood Police Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and have completed their compulsory education.

There is no upper age limit for volunteers. So if you’re able to perform the responsibilities of the role then you’re eligible to apply.

Ineligible Occupations

We can’t accept applications from people where there is a significant possibility that their role as a volunteer could lead to a conflict of interest in their professional life.

Occupations that may be considered incompatible with becoming a volunteer include:

  • Members of Police Authorities

  • Magistrates, Clerks to Justice or Clerks to Courts

  • Members of County or District Councils

  • Probation Officers

  • Bailiffs and Warrant Officers

  • Holders of personal and premises licences e.g. liquor and betting/gaming

  • Private detectives and inquiry agent

  • Employees of security organisation

  • Community Support Officers and Detention Officers

  • Traffic and Neighbourhood Wardens

  • Members of other emergency services/armed forces

  • Occupations with client privilege

  • Youth and social workers
