About My Role

Temporary Chief Superintendent
Dianne Winship (7123)

Detective Chief Superintendent Diane Winship

I am the Area Commander for Northumberland and my role is to provide leadership and direction to my staff so that we deliver a policing service that reflects the needs of our communities and we achieve the aims and objectives set our in our local policing summary.

The local policing summary goes to every household in Northumberland and is in effect our policing plan. I also ensure that my area command policies and procedures are in line with those of Northumbria Police.

I lead the senior management team which is made up of three Superintendents (Neighbourhood, Crime and Operations), four uniformed Chief Inspectors (Neighbourhood and Criminal Justice) and two Detective Chief Inspectors (Crime). There is also a Business Manager and Support Services Manager who deliver business support to operational policing.

We hold regular reviews of our progress in delivering policing services and in tackling crime and disorder, working closely with the local authority and other agencies. I meet regularly with chief executives and business leaders within Northumberland and we work in partnership to improve the quality of life for those that live, work and visit this area.

As area commander, I am committed to making Northumberland a safer place for everyone.
