What do you see as the issue in your community?

You said...

You were concerned about alcohol related anti-social behaviour in the Lynemouth area.

We did...

• Weekly meetings are being held with Northumberland Community Safety Department and statutory landlords, where offenders are discussed and action taken to deter further offending.

• Community Support Officers have been tasked to patrol the area and confiscate alcohol from anyone underage or involved in anti-social behaviour.

• Underage youth's under the influence of alcohol have been returned home and parents spoken to.

• Local off-licences have been visited regularly to ensure compliance with the law relating to sale of alcohol particularly at weekends.

• Acceptable Behaviour Agreements (regulating the conduct of individuals) have been used and warning letters sent to parents of those involved.

• Increased police presence on Friday and Saturday nights in Lynemouth to re assure the public / prevent alcohol fuelled offending.

Outcome:

• There have been 11 incidents of disorder reported in the last month compared to 27 in the previous month, a noticeable decrease.

• There have been 2 arrests for criminal damage offences in the last month.

• Operation Scarborough was conducted which is a multi agency operation involving police, local housing representatives and other partner agencies. In total 34 encounters / searches were undertaken of local youths linked to alcohol disorder. Seven addresses were visited for local youths subject of Acceptable Behaviour Agreements to re enforce the importance of adhering to the conditions.
