Attempted street robbery in Bedlington

Police are appealing for information after an attempted street robbery in Bedlington.

At 8:25pm on Tuesday, April 24, an 18-year-old man was walking in Netherton Lane when he was approached by a man.

The man asked for the time and when the victim got his mobile phone out of his pocket the offender punched him in the face and tried to grab his phone.

The offender - unable to grab the phone - then fled and ran into St Benet Biscop's school premises.

The offender is believed to have been with two other youths at the time of the assault.
