Neighbourhood priorities

Northumbria Police aims to meet our commitment to you.

The following Neighbourhood priorities relate to your area:

1. May 2012: Youth and alcohol-related anti-social behaviour on the approach road to Coopers Tourmaster Travel, Bedlington Riverside.

"What you told us"

Staff at the company have expressed concern around the anti-social behaviour caused by youths who congregate at the location, drinking alcohol, urinating and vomiting as a result of their alcohol consumption.

The youths also act in a disorderly manner and leave broken bottles and glass in the vicinity.

"What we are doing about it"

Extra uniformed officers are patrolling the main problem area at key times.

Robust enforcement action will be taken with people found in this location using Direction to Leave notices, Section 30 alcohol seizures, returning youths to their parents, and if necessary, arresting those responsible for the anti-social behaviour.

Target hardening will be undertaken by the company working with Northumbria Police and Northumberland County Council.

"Keeping you informed"

Officers patrolling the main problem areas have already moved several youths away from the area.

Letters have been sent home to the parents o those youths who were present at this location.

Alcohol has been seized from youths present at this location.

A male has been issued with a Section 59 warning for the use of a motor vehicle in a disorderly manner.

2. May 2012: Youth-related anti-social behaviour in and around the Woolsington Court area of Bedlington at weekends.

"What you told us"

Residents in the local area have informed the police that youths are congregating in the area and causing alcohol-related anti-social behaviour at weekends to the annoyance of the residents.

"What we are doing about it"

Plain clothed officers and extra uniformed officers are patrolling the main problem area at key times at weekends.

Robust enforcement action will be taken with people found in this location using Direction to Leave notices, Section 30 alcohol seizures, returning youths to their parents and if necessary arresting those responsible for the anti-social behaviour.

Letters will be sent to the parents of the youths found in this location identifying that they have been present in the anti-social behaviour hotspot location.

Diversionary activities will be considered in conjunction with Northumberland County Council to discourage the youths from taking part in disorderly conduct.
