Neighbourhood priorities
Northumbria Police aims to meet our commitment to you.
The following Neighbourhood priorities relate to your area:
1. May 2012: Speeding on the A695 at Mickley.
"What you told us"
There are problems with vehicles speeding on the A695 at Mickley in either direction between Prudhoe and Stocksfield.
"What we are doing about it"
Officers will be conducting additional patrols in the area of the A695 at Mickley.
A media appeal is being made to motorists to be more considerate while driving through Northumberland.
The matter has been raised at the LMAPs (Local Multi-Agency Problem Solving Group) meeting and will become a regular item on the agenda.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team will be using the interactive speed awareness sign in the area to educate drivers and make them aware of their speed.
The team is being supported by officers from Motor Patrols and using speed detection devices they will be patrolling the area and prosecuting speeding motorists where appropriate.
The problems in the area will be highlighted to the camera enforcement officers with a view to deploying a camera van in the area.
"Keeping you informed"
Updates will be put on the sector web page outlining successes/positive action taken against individuals.
Residents will be kept informed at local meetings and through leaflet drops about the activity carried out and by patrolling officers.
Since 24 March 2012 the Neighbourhood Policing Team has monitored the area for a minimum of six hours. In excess of 300 vehicles used the road with two issued with speeding tickets and two drivers warned.

2. May 2012: Anti-social behaviour at the Co-op, Oakfield Terrace, Prudhoe.
"What you told us"
Staff and members of the public have reported problems with groups of young people hanging around outside the Co-op playing football in the public area. consuming alcohol, smoking and causing a general disturbance.
"What we are doing about it"
The Co-op has been raised as a neighbourhood priority for East Tynedale and will become a regular item on the LMAP's (Local Multi-Agency Problem Solving Group) agenda.
The neighbourhood policing team supported by the Community Support Officers have been tasked to patrol the area and confiscate alcohol from anyone underage or involved in anti-social behaviour, especially between 6pm and 8pm.
Any young people or others identified as hanging around the Co-op will have their names and addresses taken. If the stops are associated with anti-social behaviour, letters are sent to the young people's parents to raise the issues with the family.
Youth outreach workers from Prudhoe East Centre are also operating in the area to engage with young people and direct them into productive activities.
Any individuals recognised as persistent trouble makers may be arrested or reported for summons offences, or taken home to their parents by officers.
Any alcohol seized will be poured away and local off licences will be regularly visited to ensure they are complying with the law relating to the sale of alcohol.
Alcohol confiscations will be made and direction to leave notices issued where appropriate (banning the individual from the area for up to 48 hours).
Acceptable Behaviour Agreements (regulating individuals' conduct) will be used.
"Keeping you informed"
The above tactics have previously been successful in significantly reducing anti-social behaviour.
Since the start, on 24 March 2012, 31 youths have been spoken to. One male was reported for urinating in a public place and four youths have had anti-social behaviour letters sent to their parents.
Since 24 March 2012 there have been three calls regarding youth disorder.
Residents will be kept informed of successes through the sector website, local media, leaflet drops, patrolling officers and community messaging releases.
