Neighbourhood priorities

Northumbria Police aims to meet our commitment to you.

The following Neighbourhood priorities relate to your area:

1. January 2013: Speeding vehicles in Haltwhistle Town Centre.

"What you told us"

Vehicles are speeding in Haltwhistle Town Centre.     

"What are we doing about it ?"

Speeding vehicles will be monitored and where appropriate drivers will be prosecuted.

Northumbria Police is working with partner agencies to deal with speeding issues.

Warning signs have already been put at collision hotspots throughout West Tynedale.

High visibility speed checks will be carried out in the relevant areas.

2. January 2013: Shed and garage burglaries in Hexham.

"What you told us"    

There has been an increase in shed and garage burglaries in Hexham in recent weeks.  

"What are we doing about it ?"

Extra patrols will be directed to the relevant areas in an effort to reduce and prevent crime.

Search warrants will be executed in the area.   Crime prevention measures will be introduced including alarmed padlocks and property marking mesures.

Local suspects will be targeted.

We are working with partner agencies to deal with this problem.

3. January 2013: Retail crime in Hexham town centre.

What you told us  

There is an increase in retail crime in Hexham town centre.  

  
What we are doing about it  

Police and retailers will continue to work together to prevent, deter and detect shoplifting offences.  Regular patrols are being directed to Fore Street, Hexham.  Crime prevention advice will be given. A Shop Watch scheme radios and CCTV systems will be utilized.
