Neighbourhood priorities
Northumbria Police aims to meet our commitment to you.
The following Neighbourhood priorities relate to your area:
1. May 2012: Youth Disorder on Hedworth Estate.
"What you told us"
Youths are congregating around the shops and causing anti-social behaviour.
"What we are doing about it"
Officers have been deployed to the area at key times to identify and arrest those responsible for anti-social behaviour and public order offences.
Home visits where warnings have been given to individuals are ongoing and have been having an effect on those causing nuisance and annoyance to others.
We are conducting both plain clothes and uniformed patrols in the areas where these offences have taken place.
We are continuing to collect your feedback and requesting your information to help alleviate the problem
"Keeping you informed"
We have seen a reduction in incidents being reported and this is down to the hard work of not only the officers involved but by you, members of the public assisting and making the police aware of when and where the incidents are occurring.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team will keep the community updated through Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meetings. For more information on the meetings contact the team on 101 ext 65378.
2. May 2012: Anti-social behaviour at Hebburn and Jarrow parks
"What you told us"
The local youths are causing a nuisance in Hebburn and Jarrow parks. They are causing anti-social behaviour at a time which would usually be quiet.
"What we are doing about it"
Hebburn and Jarrow parks are being patrolled as a result of these reports throughout school terms. Officers will assist the education authorities and return absent pupils as per the current legislation.
We are working well with the schools and the local council and in the coming weeks people should see a reduction in anti-social behaviour and truanting throughout the school term.
"Keeping you informed"
With the lighter nights and hopefully some warmer weather approaching, the parks will be added to the neighbourhood patrol plans to offer support to all park users, minimising the risk of disorder reports which in turn will raise perceptions and confidence in the area.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team will keep the community updated through Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meetings. For more information on the meetings contact the team on 101 ext 65378.
3. May 2012: Motorcycle disorder on Drummond Crescent, Jarrow
"What you told us"
Off-road bikes are being driven on the pavements and causing danger to pedestrians and other road users.
"What we are doing about it"
Regular patrols are in the area and we have linked in with the Road Policing Unit to attempt to stop the bikes being used illegally and to keep the footpaths and roads safe. The offenders will be dealt with in a positive manner and will be issued with fixed penalty tickets which carry a fine of £60 plus three penalty points on their licence or can be summonsed to court.
"Keeping you informed"
With extra patrols in the area this will prevent the riders using the roads and causing dangers to members of the public. If an off-road bike is used on a public road, the police have the power to uplift the bike under a Road Policing power, Section 165 Road Traffic Act 1988. the owner is then responsible for the any costs associated with the recovery and keep of the vehicle.
