Crime Statistics Commentary

In Hebburn and Jarrow, police patrols will continue as normal with Community Support Officers (CSOs) engaging with the public at every opportunity. To maintain and raise levels of satisfaction in the community it is important that the public have this link. Your local neighbourhood officers and CSOs can be found and contacted via the Northumbria Police website:

With new targets being set, we are setting out proactive patrols to hotspot areas of crime and disorder that have been reported by the public through the raft of contact options. The below locations have had increased patrols to minimise disruption and low level crime and disorder:

  • Jarrow Pedestrian Tyne Tunnel entrance and new skate park

  • Fellgate Avenue shops and Hedworth Estate

  • Central Jarrow in relation to opportunist shop thieves

  • The park areas of Hebburn and Jarrow

  • Fellgate Estate near to St Josephs way construction site

Working alongside the community and partners, such as South Tyneside Council’s Community Safety, South Tyneside Homes, Nexus and others, we will continue to share information and act in the most appropriate and effective way to tackle, reduce and eliminate local issues.

Your comments and reports are paramount to our continued high level of success in policing your streets in the manner which you expect and deserve.

Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team can also be contacted on 101, extension 69191.
