South Tyneside commuters are being given a chance to get to know the local Neighbourhood Policing Teams.

Posters giving a who's who of the Riverside, West Shields and Mid Shields teams are being put on display at Metro Station noticeboards in South Shields, Chichester, Tyne Dock and Simonside.

These give information on the Neighbourhood Inspector, Sergeants and Beat Managers for the areas while also provide contact details, including a telephone number and email address, so people can get in touch.

The address details of South Shields police station also feature on the large posters.

Nick Gjorven, Acting Neighbourhood Inspector for Riverside, West Shields and Mid Shields, said: "It's important that people living, working and visiting the area know who the local police officers are and this is an ideal way to do this.

"The posters are an excellent source of information and I hope regular commuters will take the time to look at them and use the contact information if needed.

"We understand people lead busy lives and may not always get a chance to read police and partner information that comes through their door so the posters offer an alternative.

"The posters are also very informative for first time visitors should they need to contact police. I hope they prove useful to all commuters."
