About My Role
I am the senior officer with responsibility for policing Southern Area Command, one of three areas within Northumbria Police. The Northern Area Command consists of South Tyneside and Sunderland local authority areas.
One of my key committments is to deliver a consistently high quality accessible policing service so that people feel safe and have confidence in the police.
My main priority is to ensure we meet the needs of our communities, this means working with local people, listening to their concerns and acting on them. This will enable us to robustly tackle crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour, ensuring neighbourhood policing teams fulfil their community based role and 24/7 officers provide an effective response to incidents.
I lead the senior management team, which is made up of two Superintendents and four Chief Inspectors and we regularly review our progress in delivering policing services and in tackling crime and disorder. The area command is policed by a team of highly professional police officers and police staff who are committed to delivering a first class policing service.
My role also involves meeting with local authority and business leaders, as well as a wide range of other partner agencies, in order to seek to improve the quality of life for people who live, work, study and visit here.
I want to encourage residents to contact their local Neighbourhood Policing Team with any concerns about crime or anti-social behaviour, or to seek crime prevention information.
