About My Role

Ged Noble

7068 Ged Noble

I am the senior officer with the privileged responsibility for policing Southern Area Command.

Southern Area Command consists of Sunderland and South Tyneside local authority areas covering 78 square miles with a diverse population of over 430 thousand residents. We have vibrant city centres both in Sunderland and South Shields together with significant industrial, business, educational, health and leisure communities.

I lead a team of professional and dedicated police officers and police staff who are all committed to delivering the highest quality policing service to all of our communities so that they feel safe wherever they live, work or visit.

I lead the Senior Management Team of two Superintendents and four Chief Inspectors who have specific responsibilities for ‘Engaging’ with our communities, ‘Preventing & Investigating’ crime & anti-social behaviour and ‘Protecting’ our vulnerable communities from harm. I work closely with our strategic partners including local authorities, health, education, business, other emergency services and the voluntary sector to ensure we collectively tackle the priority issues for our communities.

I am born and bred in the Gateshead area and have 25 years of policing experience with Northumbria Police across various disciplines including community policing, CID, homicide investigation and commanding police operations and large scale public events.

I am extremely proud to lead the officers and staff within Southern Area Command and I am committed to providing the highest quality policing service to our communities that they quite rightly demand, expect and deserve.
