Neighbourhood priorities

Northumbria Police aims to meet our commitment to you.

The following Neighbourhood priorities relate to your area:

1. May 2013: Thefts from vehicles in Fencehouses.

"What you told us"

  • There has been an increase in thefts from vehicles in the Fencehouses area.

"What are we doing about it ?"

  • We have carried out patrols to target offenders. One man has been arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and bailed to attend cout. Since this arrest, the number of reports of thefts from motor vehicles has dropped significantly.

"Keeping you informed"

  • Local residents are urged to check their cars are secure before leaving them unattended. It's vital that no valuable property is left on display which would attract thieves. Be vigilant and if you witness anyone who appears to be acting suspiciously around vehicles

  • Give your views on policing in your area by contacting the local Neigbourhood Policing Team on 101, extension 69191 or via the website.

2. May 2013: Motorcycle disorder across the Coalfields area

"What you told us"

  • We have had numerous reports of motorcycle disorder across the Coalfields area including Penshaw, Shiney Row and Easington Lane.

"What are we doing about it ?"

  • The police have carried out dedicated patrols in these areas and a number of motorcycles have been seized and will be crushed. The police urge all residents who witness this type of disorder to call the police immediately taking note of any registration numbers of the motorcycle involved if possible. It is also of assistance to note where the vehicle is coming from or going to particularly if you witness it coming and going from a particular house.

"Keeping you informed"

  • The Neighbourhood Policing Team will keep the community updated through Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meetings. For more information, check this website for meetings in your area.
