The Washington Area Committee (which is made up of your local Councillors) has supported Operation Choice for 2011/12. This operation will include:
(i) Extra police patrols in Washington every Friday and Saturday night. The patrols will be supported by youth workers from the Oxclose and District Youth Project and by Sunderland City Council anti-social behaviour officers.
(ii) Washington Neighbourhood Policing Team will be visiting all secondary schools to speak to pupils about a number of issues including: respecting their community, the affects of anti-social behaviour on victims and personal safety.
(iii) Washington Neighbourhood Policing Team will be visiting all primary schools across Washington to speak to children about respecting their community.
(iv) Washington Neighbourhood Policing Team has arranged for every year 6 pupil from every Primary School across Washington to attend the Safety Works Centre where they will see safety and citizenship demonstrations in an interactive environment. A number of schools have already attended and have found the experience very worthwhile.
(v) Each village has an allocated Neighbourhood Beat Manager and Community Support Officer who looks at every report of anti-social behaviour and finds ways to resolve the issues at the earliest opportunity.
Keeping you informed:
