About My Role
Mr Ashman joined Northumbria Police in 2009 as Assistant Chief Constable and become Deputy Chief Constable in 2013.
He started his career with the Metropolitan Police in 1987 and served in a variety of roles including the crime squad and as a beat officer on the Broadwater Farm estate in north London.
He successfully applied for the Accelerated Promotion Scheme and was promoted to Sergeant in 1993 he went on to work in Kings Cross, Holloway, Wood Green and across London as a Territorial Support Chief Inspector.
In 2002, he transferred to Cleveland Police and served as a Superintendent and Chief Superintendent for seven years in Middlesbrough and Hartlepool.
Mr Ashman was born in Jarrow and now lives on Tyneside with his wife and two sons.
