1. What is the number of pedestrian casualties in reported road collisions in the last three years? (January 2020-December 2023)

As the information you have requested is accessible by other means we have not provided you with a copy of the information and will rely on Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.  You should therefore consider this a refusal for your request.

We have provided an explanation to this exemption below.

Section 21 (1) - Information accessible by other means

Information which is reasonably accessible to the applicant is exempt information.

The North East Regional Road Safety Resource’s website features an interactive casualty map of the North East, on which are plotted all road user casualties from the last five years. This map can be accessed through the following link :  http://www.tinyurl.com/necasualtydashboard   and as it does not contain any data that is not already available through other sources, it has been made freely available to the public.

Full details about the map and the data used in it are given on the website, but in brief the interactive casualty map will allow you to select to display casualties by severity and road user type over a map of the North East. Furthermore, once you have displayed the desired casualties, you can click on any of the points and a brief summary of the collision, casualty and vehicle details is displayed.
