This site is a beta, which means it's a work in progress and we'll be adding more to it over the next few weeks. Your feedback helps us make things better, so please let us know what you think.
If you're a solicitor or an insurance agent, you can apply, on behalf of your client, for a copy of any existing collision reports the police have made or hold. You can also request an interview with the police officer who dealt with the road traffic collision, as long as it's been investigated.
Individuals can also apply for collision reports if they are representing themselves in civil proceedings – proof of civil proceeding will need to be provided.
Providing a police reference number is very helpful. It will be in one of these formats:
Fill in the 'Request a collision report form' below and email it to us.
Please make sure you add all the relevant details, otherwise we'll have to charge you an extra administration fee.
A £50 search fee is required upon receipt of the Request a Collision Report.
Other charges, in relation to the Collison Report, can vary depending on the documents available.
Any documents available, and proposed charges, will be detailed via emails to the email address you provide in the form.
Payments should be made via Gov.uk Pay.
A link to make the payment will be sent to the email address you provide in the form.
We aim to have all documents disclosed within 35 days of receipt of payment. This ultimately depends on the correct information being provided in the first instance.
If you are requesting digital media such as CCTV or BWV, please allow a minimum of 8 weeks.
If you are applying to interview an Officer, we will not arrange such requests until the Collision Report is finalised.
Collision Reports will only be released once the case has been closed. In the instances of Court involvement, the Report will be released no earlier than a month after the court date.
If you have any queries, please email us.
