You asked:

I would like to request that you disclose information relating to the completion of the STATS-19 collision data collection systems that your Police service operates. I would specifically request:

1. In what timeframe, would an officer complete a STATS-19 form? (i.e. at the time they attend the collision, by the end of their shift or at some other point)

Usually within 48 hours of a collision occurring.

2. Do the officers completing the STATS-19 form, need to have had any formal training to enable them to complete the form or can any officer complete it? And if they do, what level of training is required?

No training required.

3. Does your Police service utilise the data obtained through the STATS-19 process to research ways in which roads could be made safer (i.e. to reduce the number of collisions, injuries and deaths)?

No. STATS-19 data is for the Department of Transport.

4. If yes, could you provide the policy that relates to this research or where this does not exist, examples to demonstrate the use?
