Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with both the People Services and Corporate Development Departments of Northumbria Police. We can confirm that the information you have requested is not held by Northumbria Police.
You asked:
1. How many arrests have been made by Northumbria Police for people in possession of/using medical cannabis in the past 12 months?
No information held. Searches conducted upon arrests for possession of cannabis and the associated offences have been undertaken and reviewed - none make reference to 'medical cannabis'.
2. Have officers from Northumbria Police undergone training around medical cannabis and the law?
No information held - this is not part of the College of Policing curriculum.
3. Are there plans for such training to take place?
No information held - this information is not recorded. Outside of the Act we can advise that new recruits follow the College of Policing curriculum, therefore if this were to change, we would reflect this.
