Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')
Thank you for your email received on the 22 August 2025 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
Please note that this request has been aggregated with your previous request (FOI/1354) with regards to time constraints under the Act, as they refer to the same subject area – Connect Systems.
We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request, and we provide a response for your attention.
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Digital Policing Department of Northumbria Police. We can confirm that the information you have requested is held in part by Northumbria Police.
We are able to disclose the located information to you as follows.
You asked:
1. Does the force use Connect systems, run by NEC Software solutions? If not please tell me which system the force uses?
Northumbria Police does not use Connect systems. Northumbria Police uses NPICCS.
If yes please answer the following:
2. When did the force become aware of the ‘failed submissions’ technical fault, to do with this software?
3. How long does the force estimate this fault has been occurring?
By Calendar year, since the connect system went live in the force, please provide:
4. How many tickets have been raised due to IT faults/errors due to the connect system.
5. How many crimes reported by members of the public and inputted by officers have initially failed to record on police systems due to ‘failed submissions’?
As the response for Connect at Question 1 is in negative, the queries above for Questions 2-5 are not applicable.
