Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')
Thank you for your email received on the 15 November 2025 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and we provide a response for your attention.
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development and Criminal Justice and Custody Departments of Northumbria Police. We can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
We are able to disclose the located information to you as follows with the below caveats to be noted:
• We hold no data prior to 2019 and our response reflects this.
• 2025 data is inclusive of 17 November 2025.
• Please note that the following data, specifically at point 3 has been presented in such a manner (uncorrelated format) as to avoid the application of exemptions relevant under the Act (Section 40 – Personal Information) to withhold as there are cases still ongoing through the court process, and these will not be broken down further.

1. For each calendar year since the offence of controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship was introduced (December 2015), please provide the number of crimes recorded by your force under this offence. Please provide a figure for each full year 2016 - 2025.
