A drug dealer who spearheaded an organised criminal network which sought to flood the North East with Class A drugs has been jailed.
Kevin McMahon was brought to justice by officers following a police investigation conducted between July and September in 2023.
Detectives established McMahon oversaw transportation along with the distribution and supply of the illicit substances in and out of the region.

The 59-year-old was found to be responsible for the transport of three kilos of cocaine during this period.
McMahon, of Hexham Road, Throckley, was arrested in February the following year and subsequently charged with being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.
He was found guilty following a two-week trial at Newcastle Crown Court in May, and appeared before the same court on Monday where he was sentenced to eight years behind bars.
Detective Chief Inspector Marc Michael, of Northumbria Police, said:
Drugs ruin lives and the dealers who seek to profit from this illicit trade frequently target and exploit the most vulnerable members of our communities, often using violence to achieve their aims.
McMahon was a prominent member of an organised criminal network, and I am pleased that the tireless work of our officers has resulted in a significant period of imprisonment for him.
The profits earned from drug dealing are typically reinvested into further criminal enterprises which is why it is vital that members of the public continue to support us.
