If you have captured footage of a dangerous or careless driving offence on the roads, you can submit your dashcam video to our dashcam portal.
We ask that you only submit footage that happened in Tyne & Wear or Northumberland – we cannot accept footage from other force areas.
The information you provide will help us to decide if there is enough evidence of an offence, which can be investigated and prosecuted. As part of the process, we’ll ask you to submit a statement of the incident you’ve captured.
However, please keep in mind that whilst we appreciate your time and commitment to reporting an incident of bad driving, the evidence you alone provide may not be enough to meet the criteria for the alleged offender to appear in court.
What type of offences can I report?
- Dangerous driving
- Driving without due care and attention
- Careless driving
- Not wearing a seatbelt
- Failing to stop at a red traffic light
- Crossing solid white lines
- Offences where a driver is clearly not in proper control of a vehicle
What information do I need?
- Time of the incident (this may not necessarily match the time recorded on your dashcam)
- Date the incident happened
- Precise location of the incident - please provide as much information as possible, use a point of reference like a nearby building or road sign
Please note, we are unable to deal with your report, unless you are willing to provide a statement and attend court if required to do so by the Police or Crown Prosecution Service.
