Your local policing team is made up of dedicated neighbourhood officers and community support officers.
We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across Tyne & Wear and Northumberland.

Retail Crime with violence
Action taken:
Prevention: Increase high-visibility patrols in retail areas, especially during peak shopping times.
Partnership with Businesses: Work with local retailers to implement crime prevention measures (CCTV, staff training, reporting protocols).
Targeted Offender Disruption: Identify and monitor prolific shoplifters and organised retail crime groups. Ensure approptiate charges and sentencing for suspects where violence is used -

Youth related ASB - Town Centre and Transport Hub
Action taken:
We’re increasing high-visibility patrols across North Shields to tackle anti-social behaviour, with particular attention on areas affected by motorcycle-related disorder. Our officers are regularly deploying to local hotspot locations to deter offending, provide reassurance, and respond quickly to community concerns.
We’re working closely with partners—including the local authority, housing teams and community wardens—to identify offenders and put long-term solutions in place. Targeted operations are also being carried out to locate and seize illegally ridden or unregistered motorcycles linked to disorder.
We will continue engaging with residents, businesses, and community groups to gather information and ensure our activity remains focused on what matters most to the people of North Shields -

Transport Safety: Work with taxi firms and public transport providers to ensure safe travel options.
Prevention: Deploy officers in hotspot areas to deter assaults and anti-social behaviour / "Ask For Angela" Campaign.
