Your local policing team is made up of dedicated neighbourhood officers and community support officers.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across Tyne & Wear and Northumberland.

  • Priority:

Targeting Drug Supply and Reducing Serious Violence

    Issued 23 March 2026

    Action taken:

We are committed to keeping our communities safe by tackling drug-related crime and serious violence. Working closely with partner agencies and through strong community engagement, we gather and act on intelligence to target those causing the greatest harm. We continue to execute drug warrants across the area and take robust enforcement action, making use of Closure Orders, tenancy interventions, and other civil powers to disrupt criminal activity and protect vulnerable residents.

  • Priority:

Supporting Businesses and Tackling Retail Crime

    Issued 23 March 2026

    Action taken:

We are working closely with local businesses and partner agencies to reduce retail and business crime. By sharing intelligence and focusing on those responsible for persistent offending, we are taking proactive steps to prevent harm. This includes using police powers and court issued measures such as Criminal Behaviour Orders as well as other Civil Orders. We are also supporting longer-term solutions by working with partners to address the underlying causes of offending and help individuals break the cycle.

    Actioned 23 March 2026

  • Priority:

Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour: Motorcycle Disorder and Nuisance

    Issued 23 March 2026

    Action taken:

Anti-social behaviour, including motorcycle disorder and general nuisance, continues to be a key priority for us. We are taking a partnership led approach, delivering joint operations in hotspot locations and carrying out coordinated visits with local agencies. Where necessary, we issue ASB warning letters and Community Protection Notices to address early signs of offending. We also make use of dispersal powers and preventative court orders such as Criminal Behaviour Orders and Civil Injunctions to manage persistent offenders. In addition, we work alongside housing providers to conduct enforcement visits, ensuring a consistent and effective response across the community.

    Actioned 23 March 2026
