We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across Tyne & Wear and Northumberland.

Targeting Drug Related Crime & Serious Violence
Action taken:
We are committed to keeping our communities safe by tackling drug-related crime, serious violence, and those individuals responsible for causing the greatest harm. Working closely with partner agencies and local communities, we gather and act upon intelligence to identify offenders, safeguard vulnerable people, and address the issues having the most significant impact on our neighbourhoods.
Through targeted enforcement activity, including the execution of drug warrants, we will continue to disrupt criminality and bring offenders to justice. Alongside this, we make use of a range of civil and partnership powers, including Closure Orders and tenancy interventions, to tackle persistent issues, protect residents, and prevent further harm. Our overall aim is to make Ashington a safer place to live, work and visit.

Nuisance & youth related anti-social behaviour
Action taken:
We are working closely with schools, youth services, local authorities and partner agencies to tackle antisocial behaviour, particularly within parks, public spaces and residential areas where it is having the greatest impact on local communities. By sharing information, identifying emerging concerns and taking a coordinated problem-solving approach, we aim to reduce nuisance behaviour and prevent issues from escalating.
Our work combines early intervention, positive engagement with young people and targeted enforcement where necessary. By addressing both the behaviour and its underlying causes, we aim to reduce antisocial behaviour, increase community confidence and ensure our neighbourhoods remain safe and welcoming places to live.

Motorcycle Thefts & Associated Anti-social Behaviour
Action taken:
We are working with local communities and partner agencies to tackle motorcycle theft and the antisocial behaviour associated with stolen and nuisance motorcycles across the area. By identifying offenders, sharing intelligence and targeting those responsible, we are taking a problem-solving approach that reduces crime, harm and disruption to local residents.
Our work focuses on preventing motorcycles from being stolen and subsequently used to commit offences or cause antisocial behaviour. Through proactive enforcement, targeted operations and crime prevention activity, our aim is to reduce theft, deter offenders and improve the safety and confidence of our communities.
